A Call to Have Dominion- Return to Eden

We were not ever created to be ruled by our emotions. In fact, the opposite is true. We are created to ‘have dominion over all things except other human beings’ – Genesis 1:28-30. Sin introduced brokenness into the world. So that all that was created good was no longer sustained to reproduce in the order of which God created them.

Sin made man loose dominion and authority that was once given in ‘Eden’, the place of pleasure and delight. Though that by the first Adam, sin entered into the world, through the last Adam, we have been redeemed from the curse of the law and the brokenness of a fallen world (1 Corinthians 15:22).

Renewal of the Human Spirit at Re-Birth.

When you become born again, the Holy Spirit comes inside of you to dwell in your spirit and guarantees our inheritance until we are called home. He is the seal of our salvation (Hebrews 1:13). So that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. We are now renewed in our spirit man and carry the spirit of God.

When we study further, we realise Jesus taught Nicodemus in Matthew that those born of the flesh are flesh and those born of the spirit are spirit (John 3:6). So therefore, even though Jesus died on the cross and acquired the certificate of our restoration back to the place of Eden, we need to enforce our legal rights by the authority in the blood of Jesus through the finished works on the cross.

Jesus said it is finished on the cross because He cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us. Jesus nailed it to the cross, disarmed the powers and authorities, made a public spectacle of them and triumphed over them by the cross (Colossians 2;13). But when we read Matthew 28:18, we realise Jesus commanded His disciples and followers saying:

‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit’.

Jesus also encouraged in disciples in John 14:12 that ‘whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I go to the Father’.

The Charge to Do Greater Works!

Jesus expects us to step into the office He left behind on earth and do even greater works that He had done in His 3 short years of ministry on earth. They were 3 short but very powerful, impactful and life changing events that still reverberate through the whole world. We still feel, see, hear about and experience the miracles of the cross in the physical and spiritual realms.

The secret to Jesus ministry was His ability to guard His prayer time. If the Lord was able to walk in power to accomplish His ministry, we can also deduce He relied on the power of the Holy Ghost. We know Jesus was born of the seed of God, fully God in human flesh. He was crucified though no sin was found in Him, to the glory of God the father. When He cancelled the legal indebtedness hanging over us by nailing it to the cross, He gave us direct access to Abba through the renewal and regeneration of our human spirit. Now, if at rebirth, our human spirit is reborn as he taught Nicodemus, what happens to our other 2 components? of body and soul (1 Thessalonians 5:23)? There is no reference anywhere in the bible that that was also rejuvenated but Paul wrote in that same scripture that may the God of all peace sanctify you through and through. May your whole body, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of the Lord Jesus.

So in order to fully grab a hold of the finished works of Christ and do greater works than Jesus was able to do on earth, there is a need for a renewal of our soul and body.

Importance of Soul and Body Regeneration

RESTORATION OF THE BODY TO GLORY.

We’ve discussed on the renewal of our human spirit, let’s talk about the regeneration of our soul and body. Our spirit is new, our soul needs work and our bodies will be regenerated at the coming of the Lord. By this, if we turn to 1 Corinthians 15:42-44:

‘.. so it will be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable. It is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body’.

We can conclude that our physical bodies will be renewed and restored at the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:42-44) or at the sound of the trumpet at rapture 1 John 3:2 (KJV)’…but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is’.

RENEWAL OF THE SOUL- AN EARTHLY WALK OF SANCTIFICATION.

If we agree that our soul is the seat of our mind, will and emotions, is it possible that our whole existence and journey; our pilgrimage and sojourn on the earth is to test us, sanctify us, justify us, prove our hearts and loyalty to Abba? as we fulfill everything written about us in the scrolls (Psalm 139:16)?.

Without renewing our minds, we cannot prove God’s plan for our lives. Without renewing our will to align with the will of the father, we pray a-miss because the appetites of our soul does not match up with heaven’s original intention for us. It is possible for a person to be born again in spirit but still hoover round the entrance to the garden of Eden because they are unable to discern the entrance to the place of pleasure as they are still caught up in the worldy ways and designs of doing things. When we become born again, we are automatically called higher to a place of fellowship with God in our spirit. But the temptation always remains in our soul for worldly things if we are not renewing the thought engine of our soul, renewing our emotions by aligning with the emotions of God and refuse to make right choices that results in ‘life’.

The bible says ‘there is coming a time when the true worshippers will worship me in spirit and in truth John 4:23-24’. Without renewing our minds, we cannot engage our hearts in this spiritual exercise.

Importance of Aligning Your Soul to the Born Again Spirit.

So we have been called to rule over our thought life, our emotions and our will. Our emotions, our mind and will should no longer have control over us but rather the spirit of God that resides inside us should always influence the soul realm to cause us to behave accordingly to the character of God that we read about.

As such, a person that is truly born of the spirit of the father will not be able to stand injustice, maltreatment of the poor, accepting bribery, hatred, hurting other people out of spite, pride, bitterness and resentment. Though, these negative emotions and feelings are a natural part of being a human being and living in the flesh, we no longer walk according to the flesh but walk by the spirit though faith.

It should be that daily, we strive to be better that we were yesterday because we strive to walk closer with the Lord daily.
